A Muse

A Muse

There’s my muse
And then there’s my idiot
In muses clothing

I believe I am currently
Representing the former
But then again
I always believe that

And look back with
Literary horror
At some of the bad stuff I’ve written
Thinking at the time
That my writing was all that, and so much more,
Which I began thinking at age 11
When I began to say:

The intelligentsia
Are too intelligent for wisdom
Hidden from the worldly wise
Hidden in the scriptures of apostles
Hidden in the tears
The wayfarer cries
Hidden in the wordless silence
Hidden in the mirror of tomorrow
Hidden in the universe
Reflected in your eyes
